Experience the polder



To allow people to get to know the Over-Amstel Boerderij and our team a bit better, we organise various workshops. The Over-Amstel Boerderij team loves showing you what is so special about their trade. For example, you can discover the flavours of the polder and the seasons with our chef Herb. And our cheese maker Dewi? She is happy to teach you.

The workshops are practical and hands-on, so that you can master the art of various artisanal techniques. Every workshop starts with a tour of the farm and our garden. Below, you will find the workshop schedule.

Saturday 9 July | Quiche-Making with Baker Olivier

There’s nothing like a homemade quiche. Baker Olivier, who hails from France, teaches you the fine art of quiche-making. In this cooking workshop, we prepare a shortcrust pastry quiche filled with a variety of cheeses, including soft cheeses made by our cheesemaker Dewi. You’ll take home the quiches you make. The workshop costs €75.00 and includes a tasty Over-Amstel Boerderij lunch. The boat departs at 9:00 AM to Over-Amstel Boerderij, and the workshop begins at 9:30 AM. It ends at 3:00 PM.

Friday 11 July | Polder Walk with Klaas Pieter

Klaas Pieter is delighted to take you on a journey through time, where you'll learn all about the history of the polder. During the walk, he enthusiastically shares inspiring stories about the past and present of the area. It broadens your perspective on the Dutch polder landscape. This workshop costs €65.00 and includes a welcome with coffee and a sweet treat from our own bakery. Will you walk with us? Together with restaurant manager Emmanuel, you’ll discover the flavors of our garden. You'll learn how to create a fresh, floral blend using herbs that grow where the polder and the garden meet. Think blossoms and leaves that bring the current season into your teacup and let you dream away.
The workshop costs €75.00 and includes a welcome with tea (of course!) and delicious snacks throughout the session. The boat departs at 1:00 PM to Over-Amstel Boerderij, and the workshop begins at 1:30 PM. The last boat takes you back to Ouderkerk.
