Experience the polder



To allow people to get to know the Over-Amstel Boerderij and our team a bit better, we organise various workshops. The Over-Amstel Boerderij team loves showing you what is so special about their trade. For example, you can discover the flavours of the polder and the seasons with our chef Herb. And our cheese maker Dewi? She is happy to teach you.

The workshops are practical and hands-on, so that you can master the art of various artisanal techniques. Every workshop starts with a tour of the farm and our garden. Below, you will find the workshop schedule.

Thursday 15 May | Wine & Food Tasting

Our sommelier Emanuel will titillate your taste buds with this copious wine tasting, accompanied by various small dishes that go with the wines served. The evening is concluded with a tasting of cheeses selected by our cheese maker Dewi. The Wine & Food tasting costs € 115.00. The number of bites served is comparable to a full meal. The boat to Over-Amstel Boerderij departs at 17.00 PM.

Friday 16 May | Morning hike with Klaas Pieter

Klaas Pieter will take you along on a journey through time, telling you everything about the history of the polder. During this hike, he will share inspirational stories about the past and present of the area. You will never look at the Dutch polder the same again! The walk, including a cup of coffee/tea and a sweet treat before we set off, costs € 60.00. Will you join us on this glorious walk? The boat to Over-Amstel Boerderij departs at 9.00 AM.

Fully booked | Saturday 17 May | Fermenting & Pickling with our chefs

Fully booked. During this hands-on and instructive workshop, our chef Herb will teach you the basics of fermenting and pickling and you can try out these cooking techniques yourself. We will be teaching you how to prepare your produce and how you can add your own variations. These techniques are very useful, as they allow you to enjoy seasonal produce all year long. Full of flavour – all it requires is patience! The workshop, including a great lunch, costs € 75.00. The boat to Over-Amstel Boerderij departs at 11.00 AM.

Fully booked | Saturday 24 May | Sheep Shearing Day

Fully booked. On this Spring day, we celebrate our traditional sheep shearing day. The shearer will be at the farm to catch and carefully shear our sheep. Our youngest guests are more than welcome to take a look up close and also lend a hand. Of course, you can take some wool home. If our lambs are in the field, you can go out and give them a cuddle. The shearing starts at 11.00 AM. The restaurant is open before we start, for breakfast or a cup of coffee. And afterwards, of course, for lunch. Want to be sure of a table? Make sure you book ahead.

Fully booked | Saturday 7 June | Quiche making with boulangier Olivier

Fully booked. What is better than a home-made quiche? Our baker Olivier, born and bred in France, will teach you the tricks of the trade. In this cooking workshop, we will be making a puff pastry quiche, to be filled with various cheeses, including the soft cheeses made by our cheese maker Dewi. And of course, you can take home the quiches you made! The costs of the workshop, including a great lunch, are € 75.00. The boat to Over-Amstel Boerderij departs at 11.00 AM.

Fully booked. Our cheese maker Dewi loves to share her passion for the trade and shows you how cheese is traditionally made. This will be not only a hands-on but also very tasty workshop! You will create your own cheese based on fresh milk from the polder. And of course, you will go home with a bit of Over-Amstel Boerderij cheese. Cheese that will now taste even more special!
