Cheese from our own farm

Our cheese maker Dewi is eager to show you how we make our own cheese. Devoted to her craft, she prepares a range of cheeses, using locally produced milk as the main ingredient. Visit our cheese factory to discover how this process works. Our recommendation? Simply taste it! Tasty morsels of history and crafts(wo)manship.

The Netherlands is known around the world for its cheese. Cheese also plays a huge role in de polder of Duivendrecht. In the old days, the Amstel was the main thoroughfare to transport dairy products, such as cheese, to the centre of Amsterdam.

At the modern cheese farm at Over-Amstel Boerderij, we combine this rich tradition with sustainability. We process fresh, local milk produced in the polder to make flavourful products, such as various cheeses, grill cheese, yogurt and butter. Because the milk comes from our polder, we know exactly how it influences the taste and texture of our cheeses.

The creamery is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

From farm to fork

The barn next to our historic farmhouse has been transformed into a restaurant with bar and open kitchen, where you can enjoy dishes prepared by our chefs. The old farm elements have been lovingly integrated in the interior, giving the restaurant a robust look. Take a seat at one of the smaller tables or enjoy a fun evening with our other guests at the long table. You not only get to eat dishes made with locally sourced farm ingredients, but also get to enjoy them on a farm. Of course, our own cheeses feature in various dishes. At Over-Amstel Boerderij, we want time to stand still for a while, to allow you to experience and taste a piece of Duivendrecht history.
